Yesterday I needed to bake a dozen biscuits for a friends birthday, now I havent made biscuits for a while so I totally forget what ingredients I needed.. panic ridden I rushed to my laptop to find a simple but at the same time tasty recipe. Here is what I found….
Now the recipe is for Vanilla Biscuits so it wasnt fancy, just simple, sweet and very tasty
Of course you could always make it more fancy by adding some different flavorings, eg)almond, lemon, cherry ect. What is your favorate flavoring?
This recipe is by BBC Good Food, its so simple and the biscuits turned out perfectly baked
- 250g butter , softened
- 140g caster sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 300g plain flour
Mix 250g softened butter and 140g caster sugar in a large bowl with a wooden spoon, then add 1 egg yolk and 2 tsp vanilla extract and briefly beat to combine. Sift over 300g plain flour and stir until the mixture is well combined – you might need to get your hands in at the end to give everything a really good mix and press the dough together.
The biscuits turned out really crumbly and buttery just how I love them. The dough was really easy to work with. I rolled it out to be about 1cm in thickness, this is what I personally feel works best for me. I used a butterfly cookie cutter to make some lovely biscuits that I later covered in a fine layer of Dark chocolate…yummy.
Oh I almost forgot!! I also decorated mine with sprinkles too ….so much fun plus it covers up any un smooth chocolate
